Volta River Ada Foa Day Trip February 2014. (Looks like I am WAY behind! I started this in February and forgot to finish it).

So a few Saturdays ago we went to the Volta region about 2 hours away.  There were about 40 of us went.  We visited a village to see the  Empowered Playground and road in canoes to get there..

On the Merry-go-round where the children spin and this charges the batteries used for
Electricity for lights in their homes.

A few times around was plenty for me.  You can see me in the white hat.. :)

Batteries that will go into homes and provide light for one light bulb for a few hours
  a night for a week.

A single light bulb like this one.

Brother Bullock talking with the children. He always shows them his bird calls, and they try
     to copy him. :)

As we were leaving I had a few suckers I gave to these little boys. As we pushed off into the water we noticed that I don't think they knew what to do with the suckers.  Pretty sure they had never had a sucker before.  They didn't speak English either, but were interested to see all of us visiting their home.

And we headed back from the village .

A GREAT day.  As we were on the canoe it's pretty humbling to see the circumstances
some live in .  But this is all they know and they smile and go on with their lives.  As I have
said before we feel VERY blessed to be here as a missionary .  Africa really does welcome
us with open arms every where we go. We love these wonderful people.
